The history:

Who has not heard of the Legend of the Argonautic Campaign: For Jason from Iolkos to Black Sea to get the golden fleece. Who did not admire the fabulous ship with which they carried out this bold mission.

And yet Argo is the living myth that exists today and is tied to the port of Volos. The fabulous ship, then the work of Argos and his brothers, was rebuilt in 2008 in accordance with the methods and plans of the 13th century BC by shipbuilder Nikolaos Reppos for six months. And after an experimental voyage to the Forty Saints, he sailed to the port of Ithaca. Eventually the magnificent ship, whose type is the Pentecostal war web sailor, was found and remained in the port of Volos.

According to legend, Argo was built at the request of Jason and is described as the fastest and most solid ship of his day. The current ship was made of pine, oak and honey while the trees used were selected up to two years ago.

In June 2008, modern Argo sailed from Volos to the Adriatic and seized 28 ports (Chalkida, Piraeus, Patras, Preveza, Corfu, Agios Saranta, Paxi, etc.), symbolically terminating on the island of Ithaca. There, after traveling for almost two months, it reached 650 nm. (1,203.8 km). Argos' journey was a great and unique adventure, with many obstacles and serious dangers. The legendary ship passed through the high seas and against the winds with its crew rowing from 10 to 18 hours a day under the hot summer sun. The modern Argos paddles were kept by rowers who were not high-potential athletes , but everyday people (students, teachers, officers, lawyers, doctors, architects, businessmen, private employees) with strong will, stubbornness, self-discipline, faith in dream and duty, but also with great mental resources.
