The port of Volos is located in the city center, on the coastal road, and so close to the departure pier you will find shops, cafes, supermarkets, pharmacies, and of course ... the famous tsipouradika(we already talked about them in a previous post). Within 5 minutes walk there are ATMs (Eurobank, Piraeus, Ethniki) while in 10 minutes from the port you can find yourself in the shopping center of Volos with many shops of all kinds.

The entrance to the main pier of the port is located in the center of the coastal road. The coastal road that reaches the port is one-way and the first entrance you will meet on the right is for vehicles that travel on the same day while the second entrance leads to the parking lot of the pier. The port of Volos is also at the main pier.

Ferry itineraries from the port of Volos The port of Volos is located in the Pagasitic Gulf and has often served ferry routes to the islands of the Sporades (Skiathos, Skopelos, Alonissos). The ferry services from the port of Volos serve seasonally the route Thessaloniki - islands of the Sporades. Specifically, in the years when there is no direct ferry connection from Thessaloniki to Skiathos, Skopelos, Alonissos, the easiest way to reach the Sporades from northern Greece is to travel by road to Volos and take a ferry from there.

Some of the most frequent ferry services from the port of Volos:

  • Volos is often connected by ferry services to Skiathos, the closest island to the Sporades. The route Volos - Skiathos lasts 1.5 - 2.5 hours depending on the ship you choose.

  • The ferry services from Volos to Skopelos serve both ports of the island: Glossa and the port of Skopelos. The trip Volos - Skopelos lasts from 2 to 4 hours depending on the ship and the destination port.

  • The port of Volos serves ferry services to Alonissos and the trip Volos - Alonissos lasts around 4 hours.

  • There is currently no direct ferry connection between Volos and Skyros. The route Volos - Skyros is performed with an intermediate destination Skopelos or Alonissos and the trip can last up to 11 hours, including the waiting times in the ports.

That is all for now my happy travelers! I promise I will do a seperate post for each island as it is totally worth it to know more if you have the time to travel to one of the islands mentioned!

Till then keep safe

xoxo

Eva
