The Old town of Volos - Cultural tour of the oldest district of Volos

In every city, there is a neighborhood with a blast from the past, which differs from the rest of its functional part and looks like and old town. So in Volos, the current district of Palaia (Old town) in the western part of the city with its neoclassical buildings is well worth a visit.

While there you will also find the castle of Volos built in the middle of the 6th century AD. century, you will admire the Roman baths, walk to the square of Agioi Theodoroi and get lost.


In traditional district of Old towm in Volos you can find everything from gourmet restaurants to small cafés and tsipouradika and also shops by professions that have disappeared today, espeically in the big cities.



Among other things you will find Brizoladiko, a trendy and pleasant looking restaurant that serves mainly meat. One of the best places that locals prefer to go and eat with tasty food that you want to it every day. There is a menu on the outer wall, who aims at potential customers, was informative. So go to Brizoladiko if you crave roasted peppers (4 euros), kebabs (6 euros), grilled rocket and cherry tomatoes (4 euros), classic pork chops (6 euros) - if you want to combine it meat eating with a lively and happy environment then this is the place to be. >> Metropolitan Gregory 29-31, T /+30 24210-61.791. This year on the occassion of the International Museum Day, this year dedicated to the topic of "New Approaches, New Audiences", the Directorate of Archives, Museums and Libraries of DOEPAP - The Municipality of Volos, Municipality of Volos, organizes a fun and educational walk every last Friday of the month in the neighborhood of the Museum of the City (17 Feron Street, Old).


With the support of the Citizens' Association for the Museum of the City of Volos and guided by the historian Giannis Koutis, Head of the Museum Department, participants will enjoy a stroll in the most historic by many district of Volos, the Old Town. With an endless history of centuries, a sharp contrast between the past and modern identity, the area around the Volos City Museum will be the site of the tour. Unknown to many or unpublished aspects of history, hidden places though in front of our eyes, along with "out-of-text" narratives and anecdotes, in a pleasant walk open to the public, of all ages.


Duaration time: around 70 minutes.
